Crab Smasher - Forever!

There hasn't been much activity here at Sky Hut so it's pretty exciting to be able to offer you a new Crab Smasher album/download to make up for it.

FOREVER! Consists of seven tracks culled from live sets recorded at the Winter Tragic festival in The Blue Mountains, and an intimate gig in the concrete prison exercise yard of the Lock Up in Newcastle. For these shows, the lineup was slimmed down to the lite-trio of Nicholas French, Grant Hunter, and Marnie Vaughn, as the other dudes were either too drunk or too busy playing Halo on xbox 360.
Like last year's smash hit The Picky Eater, this album should hopefully tide you over while you continue to wait for the next Crab Smasher studio album, which will be out one day, but probably not anytime soon.
Featuring a stunning cover photograph by Nicholas Pitt, The download contains all seven tracks as well as a handy PDF so you can print out a cover and make your own CD if you like, or even make hundreds of them for every person you've ever met in your entire life. As with all sky hut releases, please feel free to pass this around, repost it on your own blog, whatever. Also we'd love to know if you think it's not very good.

TRACKS
1. Big Beautiful Women
2. Death train
3. Fighting For Her Attention
4. Mating In Captivity
5. Wool Flies
6. Japanese Bug Fights
7. False Alarm

~{>>>ROYAL HEADACHE<<<}~

Repressed records is a really good record shop in Newtown. I would recommend going to it :)
This is a recording of hot dude band Royal Headache taken from an instore gig around March. Unfortunately I missed Street Chant and neglected to record Dead Farmers (sorry! I keep stuffing my gadget). This recording has the advantage of sounding nicer than the one taken from Dirty Shirlows downloadable from below.

dirty shirlows

These are from a warehouse show in Marrickville, Dirty shirlows is big and sheddish, and as a result the recordings sound like shed grit. Bands included Crux, Do Not Resuscitate (this recording is missing the start due to not pressing record), Royal Headache and Voting With Bricks.

CRUX (striding back into town like horsemen)

DO NOT RESUSCITATE (unless they're really a nice person or animal)

ROYAL HEADACHE (the royalest)

VOTING WITH BRICKS (but really, vote with paper and pen)

HOUSE SHOW

These recordings are taken from a house show at Lukes place on the 14th of February. It was Kitten Party, Brutal Hate Mosh, Grant Hunter, Block and Anal Cum Wolf. It was a while ago but I remember the room being stacked with stereo equipment, ashtrays and people looking in from the kitchen.
KITTEN PARTY (the gunrunner)
BRUTAL HATE MOSH (shadows run black)
GRANT HUNTER (sizzle beach U.S.A.)
BLOCK (field of dreams)
ANAL CUM WOLF (dances with wolves)

VIEW FACTORY

This show took place at the View factory in Newcastle, It included Alps of Newcastle south Whales, woyfox and the union of the central coast and popolice (melbourne)(couldn't incorporate) Alps is reverby pop music from the deep, polyfox is unrecorded and popolice is nz guitar pop jelly bean. Popolice would have to be my hands down favourite thing and would recommend it viciously down the throat of anyone who likes tuneful vibrations.

ALPS OF NEW SOUTH WHALES

POPOLICE

There is also about an hours worth of field recording taken from the 'room project' which was a room with a warped floor made from different lengths of wood block. The recording is of people walking and running and jumping all over the crooked floor before the above show took place...If anyone is interested.

hamilton station hotel

These are taken from a show at the hamilton station hotel on the 16th of the 1st 2009, bands included corporate smack, toecutta, crab smasher, fecal puppet scum, butchers harem and grannyfist. It was a night filled with masks, horror, gore, grind, rap and noise.
I was a little bit hazy on who was who. I bootlegged crab smasher, grannyfist and I think fecal puppet scum, all of whom were far out in their own way.

la campana

These are taken from the spanish club on Wednesday 17th January. Acts included a guy from new york who played saxophone and sang songs. I cannot remember what his name was. I'll upload the bootleg when I figure it out. Crab smasher, playing in Sydney for the first time in years, they are currently a 5 piece improv rock group. Eugene Chadbourne from the USA, Eugene played many varied styles on guitar, banjo and electric rake :) and Suzanne Grae and the Katies from, a clothing store influenced band from Melbourne who had dancers and a big stuffed snake thing?

cosmos rock lounge

I have some recordings from the other slug guts sydney show which was moved at the last minute to cosmos rock lounge. Uninformed I walked to louies which at 8 oclock showed no signs of life. Fortunately I bumped into people who knew about the venue change so I followed them to the venue. I missed seeing jonothan hochman and matthew hopkins, arrived just in time to watch people clap. I did see whores (twang garage) slug guts (gravel sleaze) tully arnot (sex poems) kirin j callinan (epic beauty) and straight arrows (ultimate fun)

slug guts in sydney

These are recordings from last nights show at yvonne ruve (where?house), at which [the] alzheimer blanks did not play. Instead an impromptu collaborative set by the improvisin' prehistoric fuckin' moron. This provided an interesting beginning, capturing the attention of the crowd by slowly becoming into what it became which was very becoming. Following pfm was dead farmers which could be described as scuzzy good times music. Afterward slug guts from brisbane, a wild staggerin' squalling rock quartet and finally naked on the vague a psychin' dredging duo from sydney that exude unavoidable ill fortune.
